Biography 

Dr. Sarah K. Spivey earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Regis University in Denver, Colorado, and is pursuing a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in health professions education at A.T. Still University, with an anticipated graduation in Fall 2027.

 

Spivey is a board-certified clinical specialist in pelvic health physical therapy and a certified lymphedema therapist. Her research interests focus on diversity, equity and student success in DPT education, with particular emphasis on identifying factors that promote academic achievement, retention and professional development among women and other historically underrepresented groups in the physical therapy profession.

 

Clinically, Spivey has extensive experience treating individuals with pelvic floor dysfunction, including complex pelvic pain. She also has specialized experience in oncology rehabilitation, helping individuals undergoing cancer treatment improve function, activity tolerance and quality of life. Her clinical practice has primarily been in outpatient settings, including both private practice and hospital-based clinics.

 

Spivey is passionate about educating future physical therapists and integrating evidence-based practice, clinical reasoning and inclusive teaching strategies into physical therapy education. She is committed to fostering supportive learning environments that prepare graduates to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.

 

Spivey lives in the north Seattle, Washington, metro area with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and running in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
